Testing for Cannabis: How Long Does Cannabis Stay in Your System?

Many claims, questions, and issues have been raised against the fact that how long can cannabis stay in your system?

Tetrahydrocannabinol or THC usually stays in your system for days. In some cases, THC can stay in your system even for weeks. The duration may also vary considering several factors such as - body weight of a person, body fat, frequency of use, and the method of consumption of THC.

Everything to know about Cannabis testing:

When it comes to testing cannabis, many methods are available and can be taken into use. It could be detected by way of blood, urine, saliva, and fingernails of an individual. Different kinds of technologies, too, may be used to carry out cannabis testing. The most common of all is EGG.

In general, drug testing methods are designed to test one chemical associated with the cannabis plant – THC. THC is the most common cannabinoid produced by cannabis and is responsible for the high caused by the regular use of the cannabis plant.

Most commonly, urine and saliva samples are used to test cannabis/THC in the body. Blood and hair samples are less-commonly used methods to serve this purpose. Apart from detecting the presence of THC, this test also helps to detect the presence of another metabolite, such as THC-OOC, in the body. If the cannabis product you consume doesn't contain THC, it will not result in a positive drug test.

For how long can the test be detected?

According to a study, a single cannabis cigarette could remain in the body for nearly three days. However, as stated, the presence of cannabis also depends upon various conditions. If you are a frequent user of cannabis, your body will produce positive results of cannabis test for up to a week. In some users, the presence of cannabis may even last for a month. THC in cannabis doesn't allow it to disappear from the body very soon. According to a study, compared to other drugs, the detection time of cannabis could be the longest, and the chemicals can stay in the body's fat cells for long.

You must consult your health practitioner if you are using this chemical for any purpose other than leisure. Do not consume cannabis if it doesn’t suit your system.
