Do You Know What’s in Your Cannabis?
What is
cannabis?
Cannabis
belongs to a group of plants that are said to have psychoactive effects. When
the flower of these plants is harvested we get the drug, known as marijuana or
weed.
With weed
being legal in so many countries, it is known by different names in different
parts of the world. This cannabis is preferred due to its relaxing and soothing
effect on the body. It is said to have a number of health benefits. However, it
is quite strong and may have either positive or negative effects on the body.
Cannabis
consists of over 120 types of components known as cannabinoids. Basically, it
has two kinds: one is the THC or tetrahydrocannabinol and the other one is
cannabidiol (CBD).
●
CBD is a non-psychoactive one which means
that it won’t get you high. It is said to help with chronic pain, reduce
inflammation and help fight seizures and anxiety as well.
●
THC is the major compound present in
cannabis. It is responsible for how ‘high’ people get after consuming it.
Some Common Effects of Cannabis
The effect of
Cannabis on your body would depend on the amount of product consumed. Also, it
would depend if the product has a higher amount of CBD or THC. Some of the
common effects are nausea, lethargy, increased appetite, increased heart rate,
anxiety, and even paranoia.
Cannabis is
legal in many places in the world. Canada is one such place. Places in the US
such as Oregon, California, Colorado, and Nevada have legalised the use of
cannabis. People are starting to legalise it in different states for both
recreation and medicinal use. However, the use of Cannabis is illegal under the
federal law of the United States. The laws revolving the use of cannabis vary
from country to country. While there are some states that consider the use of
products containing cannabis as harmful, other states consider the use of any
form of cannabis is very harmful.
Cannabis,
though is referred to as weed or marijuana, has a range of short term and long
term effects on the body. These short term and long term effects can be either
useful or harmful. You can consider having cannabis, but then consulting a
doctor is essential.
